Begin with Pediatric PICC Education
Build a pediatric-specific foundation
Start with the Pediatric PICC Certification & Insertion Bundle. The bundle is $699 and provides 17 continuing education contact hours, including pediatric PICC and ultrasound education, plus CPUI™ certification preparation and examination access once eligibility requirements are met.
Study pediatric-specific patient and vessel assessment, catheter selection, ultrasound, insertion techniques, tip positioning and confirmation, complication prevention, and catheter care and maintenance. Complete the self-paced online education before progressing to hands-on and clinical training.

Needle guidance and consistent needle-tip visualization are often among the most challenging skills to master. Develop the psychomotor coordination required for vessel assessment, probe manipulation, needle guidance, needle-tip control, modified Seldinger technique, guidewire advancement, and the complete PICC insertion sequence.
For a structured pathway to develop and objectively assess these skills, the All-In-One UGPIV Mastery Certificate Training provides progressive education, hands-on skill development, competency assessment, supervised insertions, and a final Mastery Examination.
The 3-Day Pediatric Vascular Access Shadowing Program at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta – Arthur M. Blank Hospital combines required online education, simulation, and clinical observation alongside an experienced pediatric vascular access team.
Gain exposure to pediatric PICC, midline, and ultrasound-guided peripheral IV practice, vessel preservation, device selection, ultrasound optimization, tip verification strategies, and real-world workflow.
Clinical shadowing and observation: This program does not provide supervised patient PICC insertions.
For more intensive pediatric PICC training with the opportunity for precepted patient insertions, consider the 5-Day Pediatric PICC program in Tacoma, Washington.
Combine pediatric PICC education, ultrasound skill development, hands-on practice, clinical experience, and precepted pediatric PICC insertions when appropriate patients are available.
Patient availability determines insertion opportunities. A specific number of patient insertions cannot be guaranteed.
Following education and simulation, perform patient insertions under the supervision of an experienced pediatric PICC inserter/preceptor until competency is demonstrated. If you have access to an experienced pediatric PICC inserter or vascular access team, you may be able to complete this component within your organization.
Online education, simulation, and workshops provide the knowledge and skills foundation. Your facility or employer ultimately determines clinical competency and authorization to perform PICC insertions independently according to its policies, credentialing requirements, and your professional scope of practice.

CPUI™ Professional Certification
Build independent experience toward certification
After completing education, demonstrating supervised competency, and gaining the required independent PICC insertion experience, pursue CPUI™ — Certified PICC Ultrasound Inserter professional certification. The certification pathway covers adult and pediatric PICC insertion, including pediatric CPUI-P.
CPUI™ eligibility includes at least 8 hours of PICC-specific education, documented supervised competency, and an insertion history of at least 24 independent insertions, with at least 75% being PICCs, along with the required application and successful completion of the CPUI™ Certification Examination.
We would be happy to help you identify an efficient pathway before you purchase education or travel for training. Tell us whether you currently work with pediatric patients, your experience with ultrasound-guided vascular access, and whether an experienced pediatric PICC inserter can supervise your patient insertions.
Together, we can determine whether online pediatric PICC education, Ultrasound Mastery, Atlanta shadowing, Tacoma precepted training, or a combination of these options best fits your needs.
