This program introduces MAGIC, The Michigan Appropriateness Guide for Intravenous Catheters, which is the first publication to validate device indication and provide guidance for appropriate use of PICCs and other peripheral and central devices. The goal of MAGIC was to applying evidence for the selection of a peripheral versus a central device. By establishing clear direction for the selection of a peripheral or central catheter, risk is reduced by only selecting central catheters when there is a specific indication for these higher risk devices. Come learn the magic of MAGIC!
