About This Certification

Are you ready to become a Certified PICC Ultrasound Inserter (CPUI) and expand your professional expertise? The CPUI credential from the PICC Certification Program recognizes your knowledge and training in ultrasound-guided PICC insertion. Certification does not independently verify clinical competency.

Requirements to Receive CPUI Certification:

Purchase and Application
The CPUI application form is included with your purchase. After completing your purchase, you will receive a link to download the form in your sales receipt email. Print and complete the application, then submit it to PICC Excellence for review and approval by uploading it to your online account or mailing it via USPS. Purchasing the program does not guarantee application approval or certification.

Professional Information
The application requests your personal information, including your name and address, and requires a copy of your professional license.

Verification of PICC Experience
Provide your PICC training history, a record of your PICC experience, and proof of 8 continuing education credits (CEs) in basic PICC education. An employer or supervisor must sign the verification form before a notary to attest to the accuracy of the information. You must also sign before a notary to affirm that the information is true and verify your identity.

Supervised Insertion Competency Checklist
Complete a supervised PICC insertion so a preceptor can assess each step of your technique using the checklist and current INS and CDC guidelines. Both you and the preceptor must sign the checklist after the assessment.

Examination
Once your application is approved, you will have 60 days to study and take the remotely proctored CPUI examination from home or work.
