About This Site License

Strengthen Your Team’s Neonatal PICC Education

Support the clinicians caring for your smallest patients with a shared foundation in neonatal PICC education. The Multi-User Neonatal PICC Insertion License combines neonatal-focused training with supporting courses in ultrasound guidance, catheter assessment, care and maintenance, complication management, and removal.

With twelve educational courses and the Neonatal PICC Certification (CNPI) Examination, this license provides a structured educational resource for organizations developing or strengthening their neonatal vascular access services. Incorporate the coursework into orientation, ongoing professional development, and your organization’s supervised clinical competency-validation process.

Neonatal-Focused Training with Supporting Vascular Access Education

The learning pathway centers on Neonatal PICC Qualification Training, which addresses the didactic requirements of PICC training for neonates and infants through approximately six months of age. Supporting courses broaden the collection with ultrasound, device care, assessment, and troubleshooting topics.

Give educators and preceptors a common set of resources to reinforce learning before, during, and after supervised practice. The collection supports education across the catheter’s course of use, extending beyond insertion to ongoing assessment and care.

Included Education and Examination

Neonatal PICC Training and Ultrasound Guidance

  • Neonatal PICC Qualification Training: Build the educational foundation for neonatal and infant PICC insertion, with a focus on neonates and infants through approximately six months of age.
  • Inserting PICCs with Ultrasound: Explore ultrasound-guided insertion concepts, including vein selection, imaging, probe use, image optimization, and a demonstrated insertion procedure.
  • Ultrasound Guided PICC Tips and Tricks: Review techniques and practical considerations associated with ultrasound-guided PICC insertion.
  • Step by Step Ultrasound Guided PICC Insertion: Reinforce vessel identification, visualization, and the role of ultrasound in vein selection and needle access.
  • ECG/Terminal Tip Positioning Systems: Explore the principles of ECG-guided catheter tip positioning, including relevant cardiac anatomy, electrophysiology, and waveform interpretation.

Daily Assessment, Care, and Maintenance

  • Care and Maintenance of VADs: Review key aspects of vascular access device care, including site assessment, flushing, dressing changes, blood sampling, occlusion management, and removal.
  • PICC Site Assessment: Reinforce daily assessment practices, measurement criteria, and documentation considerations.

Complication Management, Exchange, and Removal

  • Management of Non-Thrombotic Catheter Occlusions: Examine causes, signs, symptoms, and management approaches for occlusions unrelated to blood or thrombus formation.
  • Management of Thrombotic Catheter Occlusions: Explore thrombotic occlusion types, treatment protocols, and prevention strategies.
  • Catheter Exchange: Review indications, procedural concepts, and risks and benefits associated with through-the-sheath and over-the-wire exchange methods.
  • CVAD Catheter Removal: Examine removal considerations, procedural steps, and potential complications associated with central venous access device removal.

Supporting Ultrasound-Guided Peripheral Access Education

  • UG130 Preparation for UGPIV with Key Signs: Review patient interaction and education, procedural preparation, equipment setup, aseptic technique, and needling concepts for ultrasound-guided peripheral IV insertion.

Neonatal PICC Certification (CNPI) Examination

The license also includes the Neonatal PICC Certification (CNPI) Examination, supporting clinicians pursuing the Certified Neonatal PICC Inserter credential. Clinicians must meet the certification program’s requirements; access to the examination does not automatically confer certification.

Support Your NICU and Vascular Access Education Goals

  • Establish a shared educational foundation: Give clinicians consistent resources supporting neonatal PICC training and related vascular access knowledge.
  • Support onboarding: Incorporate structured coursework into preparation for supervised simulation and clinical practice.
  • Reinforce ongoing learning: Provide experienced clinicians with focused resources for reviewing assessment, device care, and complication management.
  • Equip educators and preceptors: Complement neonatal-specific policies, supervised practice, and clinical competency assessment with a common course library.
  • Offer flexible access: Allow team members to access their licensed courses online and progress at their own pace.

How the Multi-User Site License Works

Your organization receives a registration portal with a Site License Access ID and password. Team members use those credentials to create their individual learning accounts, then sign in to access the courses included in your license.

Participants complete education and applicable post-tests online, track their progress, and print continuing education certificates after successfully completing the relevant course requirements. CNPI certification is subject to its separate program requirements.

Who This License Is Designed For
