Class PICC Excellence Class
Build a neonatal-focused foundation for PICC practice. Connect anatomy, patient preparation, insertion, and care with a structured pathway toward supervised competency assessment.
Program Details
Develop foundational knowledge for PICC placement in neonates and infants. This course examines the patient, vessel, and procedural considerations that make neonatal vascular access a specialized area of learning.
Follow the process from device selection and family involvement through insertion and ongoing care. The course also introduces ultrasound as a learning area and explains how simulation, supervision, and documented assessment connect education with clinical practice.
Complete the coursework and post-test, document your learning, and arrange supervised simulation followed by patient insertions. Competency forms and a Global Rating Scale support observation and feedback. Continue supervised practice until the appropriate clinical assessment requirements are met; course completion alone does not establish insertion competency.
Ultrasound is introduced as an additional area of learning. Develop assessment and needle-guidance skills through further education, simulation, and coaching from an experienced clinician. Learners interested in CNPI certification should review the separate application, experience, supervised-assessment, and examination requirements in the certification packet.
Neonatal nurses, vascular access clinicians, and educators preparing for supervised neonatal PICC practice.
