Specialization Pathways

Our collection of Specialization Pathways contains the courses that provide more advanced education and concepts of vascular access training.

PICC Qualification Pathway

You will be guided through a comprehensive program for gaining understanding and qualifications with peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs).

This PICC qualification pathway includes:
  • basic PICC curriculum
  • preceptor training
  • pre-insertion
  • insertion with multiple ultrasound application courses
  • post insertion management

The pathway is a complete body of knowledge that is necessary for the PICC specialist qualification.

Courses can be taken individually, or through the achievement of the complete pathway.

This pathway will lead you to be qualified to achieve PICC Certification (CPUI).

Ultrasound Guided PIV

The Ultrasound Guided PIV pathway is designed to guide you through all aspects of selecting , establishing, and performing successful ultrasound guided insertions.

A very practical approach to UGPIV practice, the courses of anatomy for UGPIV include: PUT IN CORRECT COURSE NAMES

  • vein and catheter selection
  • preparation
  • insertion
  • validating success

These courses all work together to establish the foundation and key principles that work together to increase your level of success with each insertion attempt.

Midline Catheters

The Midline pathway details the information needed to expand clinician and provider knowledge on midline catheters. As a type of peripheral catheter, midlines function to establish a reliable form of vascular access for the patient

requiring the infusion of medications or solutions.

Midline catheters do not replace the need for a central venous device when more irritating solutions are needed.

The courses in the pathway present information on:

  • midline assessment
  • indications
  • applications and use
  • when not to use a midline,
  • validating successful insertion
  • an overview of how to set up a midline program.

Pediatric / Neonatal PICC Pathway

The Neonatal pathway provides the learner with a comprehensive program for gaining understanding and qualification with pediatric or neonatal peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs)

Courses include:

  • Neonatal PICC Qualification Training
  • Pediatric PICC Qualification Training

CVAD Pathway

The CVAD pathway is just the beginning of central venous catheter and device training.  The courses included in this pathway will start your program of learning designed to guide you through the insertion of all types of central venous access devices.

The current courses for CVAD assessment, an overview of central venous catheter infections, and introduction to mid-thigh femoral catheters will start your program of learning designed to guide you through insertion of all types of central venous access devices.
