Certified PICC Ultrasound Inserter (CPUI)

What is the CPUI designation all about? The Certified PICC Ultrasound Inserter (CPUI) credentials (PICC Certification Program) provide the vascular access clinician validation of a higher level of knowledge and practice in the field of PICC placement.
Become a Certified PICC Ultrasound Inserter, CPUI in 3 Steps
Step 1 – Become PICC Qualified by completing in-class or online PICC qualification education.
Step 2 – Gain PICC Insertion Experience
Step 3 – Complete application and pass the CPUI Exam
CPUI is renewed every three years when minimum requirements are submitted.
Certified PICC Ultrasound Inserter (CPUI) – Renewal
The CPUI is renewed every 3 years and requires minimum submissions.
To renew, you must have:
- Previously attained CPUI Certification through PICC Excellence, Inc. Please see the CPUI Certification tab if not currently CPUI Certified
- A current supervised competency assessment, signed by the preceptor and performer
- Performed a minimum of 36 ultrasound-guided PICC insertions over the last 3 years
- Completed 6 article/program review templates (or CE’s) to confirm continuing education in the area of vascular access. Please submit the class certificate or proof of attendance or Continuing Education Form. PUT HYPERLINK TO CORRECT FORM HERE
Certified Neonatal PICC Inserter (CNPI)
Take your career to the next level by earning your CNPI
Earning the CNPI certification serves as validation of the clinician’s ability to perform insertions with a high level of knowledge of infection prevention principles, best practice techniques, and management skills for neonatal patients.
Become a Certified Neonatal PICC Inserter, CNPI, by completing the following:
- Minimum one year of practice with the neonatal population
- Proof of PICC insertion training (8 hr min)
- Documented current supervised insertions within the last 60 days
- Minimum six successful neonatal PICC Insertions (within the last 12 months)
- Current professional license
- Submission of CNPI application
- Pass CNPI proctored exam
