Basic PICC Qualification Training
This online class will be available to you for one year from the date of purchase, you may enter and exit the class, watch the program, print the manual, take the test and still go in and review chapters as often you like.
The Basic PICC Qualification Training program is designed for those healthcare professionals who are at the beginning stages of learning PICC insertions. It is our basic level of training using the Modified Seldinger Technique and is designed to help you move right into PICC insertions using Ultrasound. This course is best used in conjunction with our Inserting PICCs with Ultrasound Training program.
The Basic PICC Qualification Training program provides all the tools necessary to become qualified to place PICCs including:
• Class lecture/instruction
• Written manual
• Post test
• Competency checklist
• Log book (free download)
• Continuing Education
The lecture/video part of the program includes an actual insertion, from patient education to final pressure dressing on completed insertion. Review each section in the video, then read the corresponding section in the manual. Once you have finished watching the video and studying the manual, complete the 50-question post test. After successful completion of the post test, you will perform a simulated insertion for your supervisor. Your supervisor (someone who is PICC qualified, or a physician) checks you off on the competency checklist provided and verifies that you performed all steps adequately. At this point, you are ready to perform supervised live insertions at your facility with a qualified PICC inserter. There is no specific required number of supervised insertions; we recommend a minimum of five. Perform as many supervised insertions as necessary until the inserter and the supervisor feel comfortable with the inserter’s abilities. This should be consistent with the credentialing policies of your facility.
This program includes a manual which can be downloaded for future reference. Successful completion of the post-test with a score of 80% or higher is necessary to receive continuing education credits for this program.
