Infection Control: Central Line Bundle Program: In an effort to reduce the infection rate of intravascular catheters, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) has issued a care bundle known as the Central Line Bundle based on recommendations established by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The goal of this program, created by PICC Excellence, Inc., is to explain how each of these individual steps are performed based on current standards and guidelines in an effort to reduce central venous infections. This program is intended for use in any facility in which clinicians are inserting or maintaining central venous catheters.
The goal of this program is to provide information and procedures that can be implemented in your facility immediately that have been proven to reduce and even eliminate central line associated bloodstream infections. The program is short, precise and includes standards, guidelines and bundles of evidence based practices that can positively affect infection rates in all healthcare facilities.
