Inserting PICCs With Ultrasound Training
Today's technology is making the cost of portable ultrasounds ultra-affordable. Many hospitals are adding portable ultrasound units to their IV team's arsenal of tools for locating veins. Success rates for accessing veins have climbed steadily with the advent of this new tool. Inserting PICCs with Ultrasound is a self-paced, self-study kit intended for the PICC inserter who wants to jump-start his insertion success through the use of ultrasound. The program includes a real insertion from start to finish, from patient education to final pressure dressing on the completed insertion. It offers 4.5 hours of continuing education and is best used in conjunction with the Modified Seldinger PICC Insertion Self-paced Learning Program. The ultrasound kit includes a manual and a one hour DVD which covers the following topics:
- Introduction to Ultrasound
- Getting Started
- Choosing A Vein
- Imaging Veins
- Using the Probe
- Image Optimization
- An Actual Modified Seldinger Insertion Using Ultrasound
- Step By Step Explanation of the Procedure
Testing and Certificate of Completion
During the purchase process you'll be asked to create an account and set up a login and password. This is necessary in order to complete the testing requirement of the course. Please provide the basic information and remember your login id and password. This is how we keep track of your CE credits. Once you're satisfied with your understanding of the materials presented you may choose to take the 30 question test. Log in to your PICC Excellence account at www.piccexcellence.com under the DVD Self-study Menu OR the ONLINE Education Menu (either login is fine). Select the course from your list of available courses. You must answer a minimum of 24 of these questions correctly in order to print your certificate. Select test from the left navigation bar and begin your test.
There is no time limit and you may take the test multiple times. Once you receive a passing score, the option to print a certificate will become available. Select this option, complete a class evaluation and print your certificate following the on screen instructions.
