The NEW Pediatric / Neonatal Insertion Training
Mastery of PICC line insertion takes some time, especially with children and infants. This class is designed to train the nurse or physician for the insertion of pediatric PICCs. Both online and DVD selfstudy programs show real insertions of a neonate and an infant. Class information includes growth and development, venous anatomy, site selection, use of pre-medications, insertion techniques, complications with intervention, and tips and tricks for the use of child life for distraction therapy to reduce movement to allow the practitioner to be more successful with insertion and care. The examples and actual practice issues by the instructor give you a better understanding of PICC line procedures in an effort to aid your success. Overall, this is a clinically based class allowing you to become qualified to begin inserting Pediatric PICC lines, under supervision, based on the policies of your institution for number of required, supervised insertions. There are 4 sections and a 50 question post test taken online through your PICC Excellence account login. Practicum competencies are included. You need a preceptor or supervisor to check off your competency. To receive your CE certificate, complete and send in your knowledge assessment post test answer sheet, class evaluation and your verified competencies.
Testing and Certificate of Completion
During the purchase process you'll be asked to create an account and set up a login and password. This is necessary in order to complete the testing requirement of the course. Please provide the basic information and remember your login id and password. This is how we keep track of your CE credits. Once you're satisfied with your understanding of the materials presented you may choose to take the 50 question test. Log in to your PICC Excellence account at www.piccexcellence.com under the DVD Self-study Menu OR the ONLINE Education Menu (either login is fine). Select the course from your list of available courses. You must answer a minimum of 40 of these questions correctly in order to print your certificate. Select test from the left navigation bar and begin your test.
There is no time limit and you may take the test multiple times. Once you receive a passing score, the option to print a certificate will become available. Select this option, complete a class evaluation and print your certificate following the on screen instructions.
