Welcome to the PICC Excellence training program on Care and Maintenance of PICCs. Our goal with this training program is to provide you with information about how to properly care for and maintain PICC lines. We will be discussing, explaining, and demonstrating various aspects of PICC Care and Maintenance including:

• Flushing the PICC
• Proper dressing changes
• Blood sampling from the PICC
• Declotting the PICC
• Occlusions
• PICC removal

At the completion of the course, you will be able to:

• Describe the proper procedure for care of the PICC
• Describe the procedure for declotting the PICC
• Explain the proper flushing technique
• Explain the importance of daily site assessment
• Complete a dressing change
• Explain how to remove a PICC
