Basic PICC Qualification Training Kit
Learn Basic PICC insertion using the Modified Seldinger Technique with the newest approach designed to help you move right into insertions with Ultrasound. This course is a basic level training designed to meet the needs of the beginning inserter and provide basic qualification for PICC with didactic training, practicum and competency for supervised patient insertions.This course is designed for those healthcare professionals who are at the beginning stages of learning PICC insertions. Basic MST Training provides you with all the requirements for beginning PICC insertion.
The program includes a real insertion from start to finish, from patient education to final pressure dressing on the completed insertion. Review each section on the DVD, then read the manual. After you have completed all four sections, complete the 50-question post test. A simulated PICC insertion is to be performed under supervision with competencies outlined in the logbook for verification of completion and documentation of training.
In the practicum, perform a simulated insertion for your supervisor. Your supervisor (someone who is PICC qualified, or a physician) signs off from a competency checklist (provided) and verifies that you performed adequately. All completed documentation is returned to PICC Excellence for grading and issuance of a training certificate. This course meets Basic PICC Qualification requirements when supervised insertions are performed to the point of competency.
Testing and Certificate of Completion
During the purchase process you'll be asked to create an account and set up a login and password. This is necessary in order to complete the testing requirement of the course. Please provide the basic information and remember your login id and password. This is how we keep track of your CE credits. Once you're satisfied with your understanding of the materials presented you may choose to take the 50 question test. Log in to your PICC Excellence account at www.piccexcellence.com under the DVD Self-study Menu OR the ONLINE Education Menu (either login is fine). Select the course from your list of available courses. You must answer a minimum of 40 of these questions correctly in order to print your certificate. Select test from the left navigation bar and begin your test.
There is no time limit and you may take the test multiple times. Once you receive a passing score, the option to print a certificate will become available. Select this option, complete a class evaluation and print your certificate following the on screen instructions.
